President Ikeda’s 2011 peace proposal published online March 24, 2011

The full translation of SGI President Ikeda’s 2011 peace proposal “Toward a World of Dignity for All: The Triumph of Creative Life” is now available online at www.sgi.org and www.daisakuikeda.org.  Both synopsis and full text versions are available. In the proposal, President Ikeda calls for global civil society to take the lead in abolishing nuclear weapons and building a global culture of human rights. 2011 SGI-USA Buddhist Essentials Exam materials available March 19, 2011

In President Ikeda’s essay on the Importance of Buddhist Study, he writes: “The exams we have in the Soka Gakkai are to encourage you in your study of Buddhism. The main point is that you not only strengthen your determination to continue studying the Daishonin’s teachings throughout your life but strive to put into practice what you have learned through these exams, even if just a word or phrase. Your goal is not simply to pass a test but to become winners in faith, victors in happiness.”

2011 SGI-USA Essentials Exam

In April, the Essentials Exam Part I will be held for all those who passed the October 2010 Introductory Exam. Below is some information regarding the study material and details to support preparation toward
the exam.

Study Guides:
♦ English – available in booklet form in the SGI-USA Book Stores for $2.00 and online.
♦ Spanish – March/April issue of Esperanza – available by end of January and online.
♦ Japanese – World Tribune Japanese Language insert January 14th and 21st issues and online

♦ Chinese – available online and partial in January World Tribune Chinese Language insert.

Cambodian, Portuguese – materials will not be published, however, exam questions will be available through your local zone office for members who prefer taking the exam in these languages.

Exam Dates:
Exams can be held at the chapter or area level during the month of April. All exams should be completed by April 27.
